Not All Stock Is Equal

youtube

Equity is not just about whether stock exists. It is about how agents earn it, what it is tied to, and whether there is a market for it. At eXp Realty, agents have multiple stock pathways. The ICON Agent program awards $16,000 in AGNT stock to agents who meet production and cultural contribution benchmarks. The Agent Equity Program allows agents to buy AGNT stock at a 5% discount through payroll deduction. Agents can also earn equity awards for production milestones and for the first closed transaction of agents they sponsor. That creates several ways for agents to participate in the company’s ownership structure, not just through production, but also through sponsorship and long-term alignment with the brokerage. LPT Realty also offers stock awards. The key limitation is that LPT stock is not currently publicly traded. That means there is no open market to sell shares, no daily public pricing, and limited liquidity. That distinction matters. A stock award from a public company and a stock award from a private company are not the same type of asset. Both may have potential value, but one has a public market and daily pricing. The other depends on future company events, liquidity opportunities, and private valuation. For agents comparing eXp Realty vs LPT Realty, equity should be evaluated as part of the total opportunity, not as a vague “stock” talking point. If you want to understand how eXp equity fits into the larger model, the Inside Look video is linked. FAQ: Q: Why does public stock matter for real estate agents? A: Public stock usually has clearer pricing and liquidity because shares trade on an open market, while private stock may be harder to value or sell.
