Most People Work 40 Years to Retire. This Takes 17 #retireEarly #firemovement #personalfinance

Portfolio Reviewyoutube

Most people spend 40 years working toward retirement. The FIRE movement says you only need 17. FIRE stands for Financial Independence, Retire Early — and the math behind it is simpler than most people realize. Save 50% of your income. Invest it into low-cost index funds. At that savings rate, you reach financial independence in roughly 17 years from any starting point. The Rule of 25: save 25 times your annual expenses and your portfolio can theoretically support you indefinitely at a 4% withdrawal rate. Spend $40,000 a year? Your number is $1 million. Spend $60,000? It's $1.5 million. Spend $80,000? It's $2 million. Most people never calculate their number. They just work until they're told they can stop. The goal of FIRE isn't to stop working. It's to make work optional. Calculate your number. Then build toward it. Follow Capital Assembly for one wealth and financial freedom insight like this every day.
