As we kick off 2026, the economic headlines are loud, but the real story is in the data and the incentives behind it. In this episode, Jeremy Houser sits down with Dr. Campbell Harvey, Duke professor and Research Affiliates Director of Research, known for early work on the inverted yield curve, to break down what matters most for growth, markets, and resilience in 2026. Campbell discusses: - Why the U.S. fiscal picture raises the stakes for stronger real GDP growth - Why tariffs function like a tax, plus when they may act more like “risk management” than growth policy - Why “AI is just 1999 again” can be a misleading comparison, and what’s different this time - What a steepening yield curve may be signaling about long rates, inflation expectations, and growth ahead - Why rebalancing is an active decision, and how mechanical timing can create hidden performance drag - How products that limit downside exposure can fit into a broader, diversified approach - His thoughts on Fixed Indexed Annuities - And more Resources: - AMP Path to Prosperity one-pager: https://insurmarkamp.com/jhouser/ (Click “Learn More”) Connect with Campbell Harvey: - LinkedIn: Campbell Harvey https://www.linkedin.com/in/camharvey/ - Cam Harvey, PhD https://www.researchaffiliates.com/about-us/our-team/cam-harvey Connect with Jeremy Houser: - Email: jeremy.houser@simplicitygroup.com - Call: 713-808-8548 - Schedule a Call - https://hello.insurmark.net/c/jhouser#/select-time - Our Teams Website - https://insurmarkamp.com/jhouser/ - Connect with Jeremy - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeremyhouser/ - Instagram: @jeremyhouser_amp - https://www.instagram.com/jeremyhouser_amp/?hl=en About Our Guest: Campbell R. About This Footage

The clip page "What Top Economist Dr. Campbell Harvey Sees Coming Next (Ep. 104)" is a treasure trove of expert insights for investors seeking guidance on navigating the complexities of the global economy in 2026. The footage features an in-depth conversation between Jeremy Houser and Dr. Campbell Harvey, a renowned Canadian economist with a storied career spanning academia, research, and industry leadership.

As we enter the new year, economic headlines are abuzz with news that can be both thrilling and unsettling. But as Dr. Harvey astutely points out, "the real story is in the data and the incentives behind it." By focusing on the underlying drivers of growth, markets, and resilience, investors can make more informed decisions about their portfolios.

One of the most significant takeaways from this conversation is Dr. Harvey's analysis of the U.S. fiscal picture. He highlights the crucial role that stronger real GDP growth will play in shaping the economic landscape in 2026. By understanding the implications of a robust economy, investors can adjust their strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities.

The discussion also delves into the often-misunderstood realm of tariffs and their impact on growth policy. Dr. Harvey explains how tariffs function like a tax, but notes that they may also serve as a form of "risk management" under certain circumstances. This nuanced perspective is essential for investors seeking to navigate the complex interplay between trade policies and economic outcomes.

Another area where Dr. Harvey offers valuable insights is in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). While some may view AI as a revolutionary force akin to the dot-com era, Dr. Harvey cautions against making such comparisons. He argues that the current AI landscape is distinct from its predecessors, with significant implications for investors and policymakers alike.

The conversation also touches on the topic of yield curves and their potential signals about long rates, inflation expectations, and growth ahead. Dr. Harvey's expertise in this area provides a valuable framework for understanding the complex relationships between these variables.

Furthermore, Dr. Harvey emphasizes the importance of rebalancing as an active decision-making process. He warns against relying on mechanical timing strategies, which can create hidden performance drag and undermine investment goals.

Throughout the conversation, Dr. Harvey also shares his thoughts on various financial products, including Fixed Indexed Annuities, and how they can fit into a diversified approach to investing.

The expertise of Dr. Campbell Harvey is unparalleled in this field, and this clip page offers investors a unique opportunity to tap into his knowledge and insights.
