Paper Trading Vs Real Money | Trading Psychology For Beginners

Strategy GuideBeginner TutorialPortfolio Reviewyoutube

This one is the opposite of everything you have been taught. Everyone says paper trade first, then enter the real market. I say start with real money, no matter how small the amount. Here is why. When you take a loss in paper trading, not one rupee of yours is at risk. And your brain does not generate emotion over something that is not at risk. There is no fear, no hesitation, no urge to break a rule, because there is nothing on the line. Real money is different. Profit shows up and you think, should I book it now? A loss starts building and you think, should I exit before the stop loss hits? That hesitation is real trading psychology, and paper trading cannot manufacture it. Real money shows you whether you can follow your own rules under pressure. That is the only thing worth testing at the start, and it is the one thing a simulator will never reveal. So split the two jobs. Backtest for your strategy. Trade small real money for your psychology. Small enough that a loss stings but does not break you. That size is different for everyone, and picking it honestly is part of the lesson. Nobody learns to swim standing outside the pool. You have to get in the water. Just start in the shallow end. How did you start your trading journey, or how will you start it? Tell us in the comments. Follow for more real trading lessons. New to the market?
