But after studying Active Funds closely for several years, I realised that some well-managed Active Funds can beat their benchmark with consistency. But this video is not just about Active vs Index Funds. The bigger question is: should we really invest only for higher returns? Most investors start comparing their returns with friends, neighbours, or influencers. If we earn decent returns, we feel happy. But the moment someone else earns more, we start doubting our own plan. That is where the real problem begins. The right way to invest is not to chase the highest return. The right way is to first define your financial goals. Your goal could be retirement, buying a house, children’s education, foreign studies, marriage, financial freedom, or creating passive income. Once the goal is clear, you create a plan. And only after that should you select Mutual Funds. In this video, we also discuss three important parameters for selecting Active Mutual Funds: Rolling Returns Standard Deviation Downside Capture Ratio Along with this, it is also important to study the AMC, fund manager, and basic red flags. But remember, fund selection should come after goal selection, not before it. We also talk about SIP vs Lumpsum investing. Mathematically, lumpsum investing can sometimes give better returns. But practically, most people do not have a large lumpsum amount ready. And even if they do, market volatility can create panic. That is why SIP is a powerful method for regular investors.
