How Much Lower Can VTI Go? Day 85 Update #etf #stockmarket #investing
Day 85 of this investing challenge, and we bought the dip again! Another red day means another opportunity to stick with the plan. In this challenge, we're using an Averaging Down strategy with VTI (Vanguard Total Stock Market ETF) to build our position over time. The rules are simple: - Invest $100 at the start of every trading day - Invest another $100 whenever the market dips Today was another one of those days, so we doubled down and added more shares at a lower price. Why I'm Not Worried If you look at the past month, VTI is still below its recent high from June 2nd. At first glance, that might seem like bad news. But for this strategy, it's actually an opportunity. Every dip allows us to lower our average cost per share, so when VTI eventually recovers, those discounted purchases could generate even stronger returns. That's exactly why this challenge exists—to compare buying the dip against traditional dollar-cost averaging and see how much of a difference it makes over time. Why We Use VTI VTI gives exposure to thousands of companies across the entire U.S. stock market through one low-cost ETF. Rather than trying to pick individual winners, we're investing consistently in the long-term growth of the market while letting compound interest do the heavy lifting. Want a Lower-Risk Alternative?
