Risks & Trends is a top-level, annual conference that convenes in Warsaw at the beginning of every year. Organised by Polityka Insight, it brings together 250 leading business figures, policy makers and experts for a day-long conversation on global, European and local risks to the economy. Justin Yifu Lin is a Chinese economist pursuing the notion of new structural economics. He is a dean of Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development and professor and honorary dean of National School of Development at Peking University. He was the senior vice president and chief economist of the World Bank from 2008 to 2012. Prior to this, Mr. Lin served for 15 years as founding director and professor of the China Centre for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University. He is councillor of the State Council, a member of the Standing Committee, Chinese People’s Political Consultation Conference, and vice chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He is a corresponding fellow of the British Academy and a fellow of the Academy of Sciences for Developing World. He is the author of 23 books including Against the Consensus: Reflections on the Great Recession, the Quest for Prosperity: How Developing Economies Can Take Off, Demystifying the Chinese Economy, and New Structural Economics: A Framework for Rethinking Development and Policy.
Justin Yifu Lin (Chinese: 林毅夫; pinyin: Lín Yìfū; born 15 October 1952) is a Chinese economist and professor of economics at Peking University. He served as the chief economist of the World Bank from 2008 to 2012, and was also the World Bank's senior vice president during that time. He has served as a State Council Counsellor of China since September 2013.
